I'm Waldek Tobolewski, I'm an award-winning designer and I run Wanstead Works.
Here's a 50s style kitchen with a modern flavour. A unique creation.
I have a background in product design and spent a decade in the toy and nursery industry, designing many products for companies like BRIO and Mothercare. I also invented the Bedside Cot (sometimes called a Bedside Bed) which won the prestigious Gold Award in the Best Cot category of the Mother & Baby Awards for three years (2000, 2001 & 2003).
Naturally, I employed my design talents at home and developed a number of properties. Friends frequently told me that they really like what we had done to our house and garden and I was often told that I ought to be selling my services as an interior or garden designer.
So half a dozen years ago, I did just that and started Wanstead Works. We have done many projects over the years, some are our own properties, but many for clients seeking help with their own houses.
What I particularly enjoy is figuring out how to give you what you're really looking for from your house; be it a whole refurbishment, a single room, a new kitchen or bathroom or even to solve a storage problem. I pride myself on taking time to understand the issues you have, appreciating the lifestyle you're seeking and finding an elegant solution that needn't be elaborate, expensive or time-consuming, but which will be effective and attractive.

You may have quite a lot of work to do and need someone to manage your project, to liaise with your builder, building control officer or architect, someone who can see the right way to do things or solve difficulties. I've done this professionally and for myself, and that is what I can do for you.
Over the years I have built up my own team of tradesmen and builders. The influx of Polish workers allowed me to utilize a language I hadn’t used for years and take advantage of the high quality craftsmen seeking work in the UK. Consequently, for some years, now, I have been able to offer a total service with great success. Many times I have had initial exploratory talks with a customer that has been supported through the design and building process finally to enjoy stunning finished projects that have enriched their lives.
Building work in your own home is invariably painful to live through, but I seek to minimize the disruption and keeping a balance of progressing the work whilst respecting your home and being a considerate contractor.
